Flight of Time

At first glance, you could be forgiving for thinking that this piece depicts the morning on one side and the evening on the other.  But on closer examination, it becomes apparent that the trees have matured, the ferns are higher, and the ivy has grown up the easel.  Time has flown and a number of years elapsed, symbolizing that art is not an instant thing but an ever- evolving canvas, which can take a lifetime to complete.

This image is rather rare as it is the only self-portrait (if only my back!) in existance.  The butterfly is called "Painted Lady" which of course is Lady Painted in reverse.
